Much of the success stories from Lal Jose came from plots that revolved around picturesque, silent villages. In an attempt to add to this list is his new flick titled ‘Elsamma Enna Aankutty’. The movie with a curious title features an impressive story by Sindhuraj, and also presents a new face in the title role. The film is about a beautiful young girl who is forced to act like a boy to take care of her mother and three younger sisters. Elsamma is a cute girl, who works from day to night. Apart from her routine jobs, she also distributes newspapers early in the morning and also works as the local reporter of a daily.   The essential day breaker of their high range village junction named ‘Balan Pillai City’, she has a company in Palunni, the local milkman. These two are considered to kick off every day of the residents in Balan Pillai city. Basically a fun film, the movie also has got it’s lengthy list of caricaturish characters ala Lal Jose’s other films. Debutante Anne Augustine, the daughter of veteran actor August plays the title role of Elsamma. Like his previous introductions like Kavya Madhavan, Jyothirmayi, Samvrutha Sunil, Muktha, Meeranandhan and Archanakavi, Anne is also expected to become a frontline heroine in Mollywood. Kunchacko Boban who is fresh from his latest two hits is also experimenting on his looks, playing Palunni. Indrajith, the lucky mascot of Lal Jose films plays the other male lead of the movie. The cast  of ‘Elsamma Enna Aan Kutty’ also includes Janardhanan, Vijayaraghavan, Jagathy Sreekumar, KPAC Lalitha, Maniyanpillai Raju, Suraj Venjarammoodu, Manikandan and Manikkuttan. While Vijay Ulaganath is in charge of the camera, Renjan Abraham does the editing. Rajamani for the first time scores the music for a Laljose film. He has set tunes to four songs written by Rafeeq Ahmad. മലയാളികളുടെ പ്രിയ നായിക കാവ്യാ മാധവനെതിരേ ഭര്‍ത്താവ്‌ നിശാല്‍ ചന്ദ്ര അയച്ച വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസില്‍ ഗുരുതരമായ ആരോപണങ്ങള്‍. മലയാള സിനിമയിലെ പ്രമുഖ നായക നടനെ പേരെടുത്തു പറയാതെയും വിവാഹ ശേഷം സിനിമയില്‍ സജീവമല്ലാത്ത നടിയെ പേരെടുത്തു പറഞ്ഞും ഗുരുതരമായ ആരോപണങ്ങളാണ്‌ നിശാല്‍ ഉന്നയിക്കുന്നത്‌. പ്രമുഖ അഭിഭാഷകന്‍ അഡ്വ. ശശിധരന്‍പിള്ള മുഖേന നിശാലിന്റെ കുടുംബം കാവ്യയ്‌ക്ക് അയച്ച വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസിന്റെ പകര്‍പ്പ്‌ ‘മംഗള’ത്തിനു ലഭിച്ചു. നിശാലിനും കുടുംബത്തിനും എതിരേ കാവ്യയുടെ കുടുംബം ഉന്നയിക്കുന്ന പല ആരോപണങ്ങള്‍ക്കും അക്കമിട്ടു മറുപടി നല്‍കിയാണ്‌ നോട്ടീസ്‌ അയച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്‌. ആറു മാസത്തോളം നീണ്ട ദാമ്പത്യത്തിനിടയില്‍ മൂന്നു മാസം മാത്രമാണ്‌ കാവ്യ കുവൈറ്റിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നത്‌. ഇതില്‍ അഞ്ചാഴ്‌ച കാവ്യയുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ ദമ്പതികള്‍ക്ക്‌ ഒപ്പമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഒരാഴ്‌ചത്തെ മധുവിധു യാത്രയും പോയിട്ട്‌ ശേഷിക്കുന്ന ആറാഴ്‌ചത്തെ വാസത്തിനിടെയാണ്‌ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചെന്നും കൂടിച്ചേരാനാകാത്ത വിധം അകന്നു എന്നും കാവ്യ പറയുന്നതും അവിശ്വസനീയമാണെന്നും വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസില്‍ പറയുന്നു. 2008 ഓഗസ്‌റ്റ് എട്ടിന്‌ പെണ്ണുകാണല്‍ ചടങ്ങിനു ശേഷം വിവാഹനിശ്‌ചയം നടന്നതു മുതലുള്ള സംഭവങ്ങള്‍ വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസില്‍ വിശദമായി പ്രതിപാദിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. രണ്ടു കുടുംബങ്ങളും വെവ്വേറെ ജാതകം അടക്കമുള്ള കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ പരിശോധിച്ചശേഷമാണ്‌ വിവാഹം ഉറപ്പിച്ചതെന്നും അതിനുശേഷം വിവാഹ നടന്ന ഫെബ്രുവരി അഞ്ചാം തീയതി വരെ കാവ്യയും നിശാലും തമ്മിലുള്ള ഊഷ്‌മളമായ ബന്ധവും നോട്ടീസില്‍ വിവരിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്‌. പരസ്‌പരം സംസാരിച്ചു മനസിലാക്കിയതിനു ശേഷമാണ്‌ വിവാഹ ബന്ധത്തിലേക്കു കടന്നതെന്നും നോട്ടീസില്‍ പറയുന്നു. കാവ്യയുടെ ആവശ്യപ്രകാരം വിവാഹനിശ്‌ചയം രഹസ്യമാക്കി വച്ചുവെന്നും നിശാല്‍ അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നു. പിന്നീട്‌ വിവാഹശേഷം നിശാലുമൊത്തു കുവൈറ്റിലേക്കു പോകുന്നതിന്റെ രേഖകള്‍ വൈകാതിരിക്കാന്‍ 2000 ഡിസംബര്‍ 11-ന്‌ ഇരുവരും തമ്മിലുള്ള വിവാഹം സ്‌പെഷ്യല്‍ മാര്യേജ്‌ ആക്‌ട് പ്രകാരം രജിസ്‌റ്റര്‍ ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. വിവാഹനിശ്‌ചയ ദിവസം മറ്റുള്ള ബന്ധുക്കളുടെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തില്‍ കാവ്യയുടെ പിതാവ്‌ സ്‌ത്രീധനത്തെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ ചോദിച്ചെങ്കിലും തങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ അങ്ങനെ യാതൊരു ഡിമാന്‍ഡുമില്ലെന്നായിരുന്നു മറുപടി നല്‍കിയത്‌. തങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നും ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടില്ലെന്നും ഒന്നും കൈപ്പറ്റിയിട്ടില്ലെന്നും വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസില്‍ പറയുന്നു. വിവാഹം ആര്‍ഭാടപൂര്‍ണമാക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നതിനിടെയാണ്‌വിവാഹത്തില്‍നിന്നു പിന്മാറണമെന്ന്‌ കാവ്യയുടെ വീട്ടുകാര്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടതായും നോട്ടീസില്‍ ആരോപിക്കുന്നു. ജനുവരി 30-ന്‌ വിവാഹത്തിനായി കുവൈറ്റില്‍നിന്ന്‌ നാട്ടിലേക്ക്‌ പുറപ്പെടും മുന്‍പാണ്‌ നിശാലിന്‌ വിവാഹത്തില്‍നിന്ന്‌ പിന്മാറണമെന്നാവശ്യപ്പെട്ട്‌ കാവ്യയുടെ ഫോണ്‍ എത്തുന്നത്‌. തനിക്ക്‌ കല്യാണത്തില്‍ താല്‍പ്പര്യമില്ലെന്നു കാവ്യ വെട്ടിത്തുറന്നു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ തമാശ ആയിരിക്കുമെന്നാണ്‌ നിശാല്‍ ആദ്യം കരുതിയത്‌. എന്നാല്‍ പിന്നീട്‌ കാവ്യ അപമര്യാദയായി സംസാരിച്ചതോടെ പ്രശ്‌നം ഗുരുതരമാണെന്നു മനസിലാക്കുകയും നാട്ടിലുള്ള ജ്യേഷ്‌ഠനെ വിളിച്ച്‌ പ്രശ്‌നം പറയുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. വിവാഹത്തിനായി എടുത്ത ടിക്കറ്റ്‌ ക്യാന്‍സല്‍ ചെയ്യാന്‍ തുടങ്ങിയെങ്കിലും പിന്നീട്‌ നിശാലിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ നിര്‍ബന്ധത്തിനു വഴങ്ങി നാട്ടിലേക്ക്‌ വരിയകയായിരുന്നു. വിവാഹത്തിനു മുന്നു ദിവസം മുന്‍പ്‌ കാവ്യ ആത്മഹത്യ ചെയ്യാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചുവെന്ന അഭ്യൂഹം കേട്ടതായും നോട്ടീസില്‍ ആരോപിക്കുന്നു. ഇതേക്കുറിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ കാവ്യയുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ വ്യക്‌തമായ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞില്ല. സംഭവം അറിഞ്ഞ്‌ കാവ്യയുടെ വീട്ടിലെത്തിയ നിശാലിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളോട്‌ മകള്‍ക്ക്‌ പെട്ടെന്നു മനസു മാറിയെന്ന്‌ കാവ്യയയുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. കാവ്യയെ കാണണമെന്ന്‌ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടെങ്കിലും ഏറെ കാത്തിരുന്നതിനു ശേഷമാണ്‌ അവര്‍ താഴത്തെ മുറിയില്‍ കാത്തിരുന്ന വരന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളെ കാണാനെത്തിയത്‌. അവരെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ തികച്ചും പ്രസന്നവതിയായാണ്‌ കാവ്യ ഭാവിച്ചത്‌. തുടര്‍ന്ന്‌ നിശാലിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തേക്ക്‌ മടങ്ങി. ഇവര്‍ കൊല്ലത്ത്‌ എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ വിവാഹം നടക്കില്ലെന്നു പറഞ്ഞ്‌ കാവ്യയുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ നിശാലിന്റെ സഹോദരന്‍ ദീപക്കിനെ ടെലിഫോണില്‍ ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടു. ഇതുസംബന്ധിച്ച്‌ റിലീസ്‌ ഉടന്‍ തന്നെ മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ക്കു നല്‍കുമെന്നും പറഞ്ഞു. ആശയക്കുഴപ്പത്തിലായ നിശാല്‍ കാവ്യയുമായി നേരിട്ടു സംസാരിക്കാന്‍ പാതിരാത്രിയില്‍ത്തന്നെ കൊച്ചിയിലേക്ക്‌ പുറപ്പെട്ടു. പുലര്‍ച്ചെ മൂന്നു മണിയോടെ കാവ്യയുടെ വീട്ടിലെത്തിയ നിശാലിനെ കാവ്യയുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ സ്വീകരിച്ചു. എത്തുന്ന വിവരം അറിയിച്ചിട്ടും കാവ്യ മുറിയില്‍നിന്നു പുറത്തുവന്നില്ല. അഞ്ചു മണിക്ക്‌ നിസംഗ ഭാവത്തില്‍ നിശാലിനെ കാണാനെത്തിയ കാവ്യ അധികം വൈകും മുന്‍പ്‌ മേക്കപ്പിട്ട്‌ ‘പട്ടണത്തില്‍ ഭൂതം’ സിനിമയുടെ ഷൂട്ടിങിനായി യാത്ര തിരിച്ചു. പോകുമ്പോള്‍ നിശാലിനോടു യാത്ര പറയാനുള്ള സമാന്യ മര്യാദ പോലും കാവ്യ കാണിച്ചില്ലെന്നും നോട്ടീസില്‍ ആരോപിക്കുന്നു. ഇതോടെ വിവാഹം റദ്ദാക്കാന്‍ നിശാല്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചെങ്കിലും കാരണം എന്താണെന്ന്‌ കാവ്യയില്‍നിന്ന്‌ അറിയാന്‍വേണ്ടി അവിടെത്തങ്ങി. വൈകിട്ട്‌ മടങ്ങിയെത്തിയ കാവ്യ ഒന്നും സംഭവിക്കാത്തതുപോലെ മടങ്ങിയെത്തിയ കാവ്യ വിവാഹത്തിനു സമ്മതമാണെന്നു പറയുകയും സ്‌നേഹത്തോടെ നിശാലുമായി പെരുമാറുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. വിവാഹത്തിനു മാധ്യസ്‌ഥം വഹിച്ച സൂപ്പര്‍താരം സുരേഷ്‌ ഗോപിയുടെ സഹോദരന്‍ സുനില്‍ ഗോപിയും ഈ സമയം കാവ്യയുടെ വീട്ടിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. നിശാലിന്റെ ജീവിതമിട്ട്‌ എന്തിനാണ്‌ പന്താടുന്നതെന്ന്‌ സുനില്‍ഗോപി ചോദിച്ചെങ്കിലും കാവ്യയുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ വ്യക്‌തമായ മറുപടി നല്‍കിയില്ലെന്നും നോട്ടീസില്‍ പറയുന്നു. ആശങ്കയോടെയാണെങ്കിലും വിവാഹവുമായി മുന്നോട്ടുപോകാന്‍ നിശാല്‍ തീരുമാനിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. 2009 ഫെബ്രുവരി അഞ്ചിന്‌ കൊല്ലൂര്‍ മൂകാംബിക ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ ബന്ധുക്കളുടെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തില്‍ വിവാഹം ഗംഭിരമായി നടന്നു. ഇതിനു ശേഷം കാവ്യ തികച്ചും സന്തോഷവതിയായിരുന്നു. പ്രശ്‌നങ്ങള്‍ അവസാനിച്ചെന്നു കരുതി നിശാലും സന്തോഷവാനായി. ഇതിനിടയില്‍ ആഭരണങ്ങള്‍ അടങ്ങിയ ബ്രീഫ്‌കെയ്‌സുമായി കാവ്യയുടെ അമ്മ നിശാലിന്റെ മാതാവിനെ സമീപിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍ ആഭരണങ്ങള്‍ കാവ്യയുടെ അമ്മ തന്നെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചാല്‍ മതിയെന്നായിരുന്നു നിശാലിന്റെ അമ്മ മറുപടി നല്‍കിയതെന്ന്‌ നോട്ടീസില്‍ വ്യക്‌തമായി പറയുന്നു. വിലപിടിപ്പുള്ള ഒരു വസ്‌തുവുമായല്ല കാവ്യയും നിശാലും തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തേക്ക്‌ വിമാനത്തില്‍ യാത്ര ചെയ്‌തതെന്നും നോട്ടീസില്‍ വ്യക്‌തമാക്കുന്നുണ്ട്‌. ഏഴാം തീയതി നിശാലിന്റെ തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ വീട്ടില്‍ റിസപ്‌ഷന്‍ സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. കാവ്യയുടെ കുടുംബവും അന്നു തന്നെ നിശാലിന്റെ വീട്ടിലെത്തി. ഒമ്പതാം തീയതി എറണാകുളത്തെ ലെ മെറിഡിയന്‍ ഹോട്ടലില്‍ വിവാഹ സല്‍ക്കാരം സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു. ഗിരി പൈ ജൂവലേഴ്‌സ് സ്‌പോണ്‍സര്‍ ചെയ്‌ത വൈമാലയാണ്‌ കാവ്യ അണിഞ്ഞിരുന്നത്‌. സല്‍ക്കാരത്തിനു ശേഷം മാല ജൂവലറിക്കാര്‍ക്ക്‌ മടക്കി നല്‍കുകയും ചെയ്‌തു. പിന്നീട്‌ നിരവധി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങള്‍ സന്ദര്‍ശിക്കുകയും നീലേശ്വരത്ത്‌ വിവാഹ സല്‍ക്കാരത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുകയൂം ചെയ്‌തു. മൂകാംബിക ദേവിയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹത്താല്‍ എല്ലാം മംഗളമായെന്ന്‌ നിശാല്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തെന്നു നോട്ടീസില്‍ പറയുന്നു. ഫെബ്രുവരി 15-ന്‌ നിശാല്‍ കുവൈറ്റിലേക്ക്‌ മടങ്ങി. പട്ടണത്തില്‍ ഭൂതത്തിന്റെ ഷൂട്ടിങ്‌ തീരാത്തതിനാല്‍ കാവ്യ നാട്ടില്‍ത്തന്നെ തങ്ങി. ഒരാഴ്‌ചയ്‌ക്കു ശേഷം നിശാലിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളോടൊപ്പം കുവൈറ്റിലേക്ക്‌ മടങ്ങി. കുവൈറ്റിലും കാവ്യ സന്തുഷ്‌ടയായിരുന്നു. നിശാലിന്റെ സുഹൃത്തുക്കള്‍ ദമ്പതികള്‍ക്കായി വിലാശമായ വിരുന്ന സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തിരുന്നു. ഇതില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കാന്‍ മാര്‍ച്ച്‌ ഒന്നിന്‌ കാവ്യയുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കളും അവിടെയെത്തി. 15-ാം തീയതിയാണ്‌ കാവ്യയുടെ കുടുംബം കുവൈറ്റില്‍നിന്നു മടങ്ങിയത്‌. പട്ടണത്തില്‍ ഭൂതം എന്ന സിനിമയുടെ ഷൂട്ടിങ്‌ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കാനുണ്ടെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു കാവ്യയും അവര്‍ക്കൊപ്പം കേരളത്തിലേക്കു തിരിച്ചു. 14 ദിവസത്തെ ഷൂട്ടിങിനു ശേഷം മടങ്ങിയെത്തിയതോടെയാണ്‌ കാവ്യയുടെ സ്വഭാവം വീണ്ടും മാറിയതെന്ന്‌ നോട്ടീസില്‍ പറയുന്നു. മാര്‍ച്ച്‌ 15-ന്‌ ‘പട്ടണത്തില്‍ ഭൂതം’ എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ ശേഷിക്കുന്ന ജോലികള്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കാന്‍ കാവ്യ മാതാപിതാക്കളോടൊപ്പം നാട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങി. ഷൂട്ടിങ്‌ മതിയാക്കി മടങ്ങിയെത്തിയതു മുതല്‍ കാവ്യയുടെ സ്വഭാവത്തില്‍ മാറ്റം വീണ്ടും പ്രകടമായിത്തുടങ്ങി. ഒരു പരസ്യ ചിത്രത്തിനുള്ള ഓഫര്‍ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും അതില്‍ അഭിനയിക്കണമെന്നും കാവ്യ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടപ്പോള്‍ നിശാലിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍ എതിര്‍ത്തു. ‘ഇലവങ്കോട്‌ ദേശം’ എന്ന ചിത്രത്തില്‍ ബാലതാരമായി അഭിനയിച്ച്‌ സംസ്‌ഥാന അവാര്‍ഡ്‌ വരെ നേടിയ താരമാണ്‌ നിശാല്‍. കാവ്യയുമായുള്ള വിവാഹ നിശ്‌ചയത്തിനു ശേഷം തെലുങ്ക്‌ ചിത്രത്തില്‍ നായകനായി അഭിനയിക്കാനുള്ള ക്ഷണം നിശാലിനു ലഭിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍ വിവാഹശേഷം സിനിമ വേണ്ടെന്നും രണ്ടു പേരും അഭിനയത്തോടു ബന്ധം പുലര്‍ത്തേണ്ടെന്നും കാവ്യയുമായി ആലോചിച്ച്‌ തീരുമാനിച്ചിരുന്നതിനാല്‍ നിശാല്‍ ഈ ഓഫര്‍ തള്ളി. കാവ്യയുടെയും അഭിപ്രായം കൂടി പരിഗണിച്ചായിരുന്നു നിശാലിന്റെ നടപടി. ഭര്‍ത്താവ്‌ അഭിനയിക്കുന്നതില്‍ താല്‍പ്പര്യമില്ലെന്നായിരുന്നു കാവ്യയുടെ മറുപടി. അങ്ങനെ തീരുമാനിച്ച ദമ്പതികളില്‍ ഭാര്യ വിവാഹത്തിനു ശേഷവും പുതിയ ഓഫറുകള്‍ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നതിനെ അദ്ദേഹവും വീട്ടുകാരും എതിത്തത്‌ സ്വാഭാവികം മാത്രമെന്നു നിശാല്‍ കാവ്യയ്‌ക്ക് അയച്ച നോട്ടീസില്‍ വിശദീകരിക്കുന്നു. ഷൂട്ടിങിനു ശേഷം കേരളത്തില്‍നിന്നു മടങ്ങിയെത്തിയ അന്നു മുതല്‍ കാവ്യ ചിന്താകുലയായിരുന്നു. നാട്ടില്‍നിന്ന്‌ മടങ്ങിയതിന്റെ വിഷമമാകും എന്നായിരുന്നു നിശാലും കുടുംബവും കരുതിയത്‌. എന്നാല്‍ അങ്ങനെയല്ലെന്ന്‌ അധികം വൈകും മുന്‍പ്‌ മനസിലായി. ഒരു ദിവസം നിശാല്‍ വീട്ടിലില്ലായിരുന്ന ദിവസം കാവ്യ ഭര്‍തൃമാതാവിനോടു പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ചു. വീട്ടുകാര്‍ നിര്‍ബന്ധിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു മാത്രമാണ്‌ താന്‍ ഈ വിവാഹത്തിനു സമ്മതിച്ചതെന്ന്‌ കാവ്യ തുറന്നടിച്ചു. ഞെട്ടിപ്പോയെങ്കിലും കാവ്യയുടെ ക്ഷോഭം അടക്കാനാണ്‌ അവര്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചതെന്നും നോട്ടീസില്‍ പറയുന്നു. കുവൈറ്റിലെ വീട്ടില്‍ ചാറ്റിങായിരുന്നു കാവ്യയുടെ പ്രധാന ഹോബിയെന്നും നോട്ടീസില്‍ പറയുന്നു. വീട്ടിലെ പൊതു ഫോണിനു പുറമേ കാവ്യയ്‌ക്ക് സ്വന്തമായി മൊബൈല്‍ ഫോണും കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറും ചാറ്റിങ്‌ സൗകര്യങ്ങളും ഇന്റര്‍നെറ്റ്‌ ഫോണ്‍ സൗകര്യവും ഒരുക്കിയിരുന്നു. കാവ്യ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടതെല്ലാം നിശാലും കുടുംബവും ഒരുക്കി നല്‍കി. ഗള്‍ഫ്‌ നാടുകളിലുള്ള കാവ്യയുടെ ബന്ധുക്കളും സുഹൃത്തുക്കളും അടിക്കടി കാവ്യയുടെ വീട്‌ സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇവരോടൊല്ലാം സൗഹാര്‍ദപരമായാണ്‌ നിശാലിന്റെ കുടുംബം പെരുമാറിയത്‌. പൊതുപരിപാടികള്‍ക്കെല്ലം കുടുംബത്തോടൊപ്പം കാവ്യയെയും ഒപ്പം കൂട്ടിയിരുന്നു. നിശാലിനൊപ്പം ജിമ്മില്‍ കാവ്യയും ഒപ്പം ചേര്‍ന്നതോടെ അവര്‍ക്കായി ഒരു പേഴ്‌സണല്‍ ട്രെയിനറെയും നിയോഗിച്ചു. കല്യാണത്തിനു ശേഷം ഉടന്‍ ഈജിപ്‌തിലേക്ക്‌ മധുവിധു യാത്രയ്‌ക്ക് പദ്ധതിയിട്ടിരുന്നെങ്കിലും കാവ്യയുടെ ഷൂട്ടിങ്‌ തിരക്കുകള്‍ മൂലം അതുനീട്ടിവയ്‌ക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. കാവ്യ നാട്ടിലായിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ജ്യോതിഷ്‌ എന്നൊരാള്‍ കാവ്യയുടെ കുടുംബ സുഹൃത്തെന്നു പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തി നിശാലിനെ വിളിച്ചു. മധുവിധുവിനായി ഈജിപ്‌തില്‍ പോകേണ്ടെന്നും പകരം ഓസ്‌ട്രിയയ്‌ക്കു പോകണമെന്നുമാണ്‌ അയാള്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടത്‌. ഭാര്യയും ഭര്‍ത്താവും തീരുമാനിക്കേണ്ട മധുവിധി യാത്ര മൂന്നാമതൊരാള്‍, അതും കുടുംബസുഹൃത്തായ ഒരാള്‍ വിളിച്ചു മാറ്റണമെന്ന്‌ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടത്‌ നിശാലിനെ ആശ്‌ചര്യപ്പെടുത്തി. താന്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്നാണ്‌ ജ്യോതിഷ്‌ അങ്ങനെ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതെന്നു കാവ്യ പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ താന്‍ അപഹാസ്യനാകുന്നതായി നിശാലിനു തോന്നിയെന്നും നോട്ടീസില്‍ വ്യക്‌തമാക്കുന്നു. പിന്നീട്‌ ഈജിപ്‌തിലേക്കു തന്നെയാണ്‌ മധുവിധുവിനു പോയത്‌. യാത്രയില്‍ കാവ്യ സന്തുഷ്‌ടയായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും നിശാലിനോടുള്ള പെരുമാറ്റത്തില്‍ ചെറിയ പാകപ്പിഴകള്‍ അന്നു മുതല്‍ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചിരുന്നു. 2009 ജൂണ്‍ 27-ന്‌ ബന്ധുവിന്റെ വിവാഹത്തില്‍ സംബന്ധിക്കാനായി നാട്ടിലേക്കു തിരിച്ചു. ജൂലൈ 11-ാം തീയതിക്ക്‌ റിട്ടേണ്‍ ടിക്കറ്റും ബുക്ക്‌ ചെയ്‌താണ്‌ മടങ്ങിയത്‌. ജൂലൈ അഞ്ചാം തീയതി നിശാലിന്റെ ജന്മദിനമായിരുന്നു. വിവാഹശേഷമുള്ള ആദ്യ ജന്മദിനത്തിന്‌ ഏതു ഭര്‍ത്താവും കൊതിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഭാര്യയുടെ ഒരു വിളി നിശാലും ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍ കാവ്യ വിളിച്ചില്ലെന്നു മാത്രമല്ല വൈകിട്ട്‌ നിശാല്‍ വിളിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ക്ഷുഭിതയായി സംസാരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്‌തുവെന്ന്‌ വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസില്‍ ആരോപിക്കുന്നു. ”നിങ്ങള്‍ ഒരു സാധാരണ എഞ്ചിനിയര്‍, നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്‍ ഒരു സാധാരണ ഡോക്‌ടര്‍, നിങ്ങളുടെ അച്‌ഛന്‍ ഒരു സാധാ എഞ്ചിനിയര്‍. ഞാന്‍ ആരാണെന്ന്‌ അറിയാമോ, ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളേക്കാള്‍ എല്ലാം വളരെ മേലെയാണ്‌.” 2009 ജൂലൈ ഏഴിന്‌ നിശാല്‍ ടെലിഫോണില്‍ ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടപ്പോള്‍ കാവ്യയുടെ മറുപടി ഇതായിരുന്നു. കാവ്യയുടെ ഈ ആരോപണങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസില്‍ നിശാല്‍ വ്യക്‌തമായ മറുപടിയും നല്‍കുന്നു. യുഎസ്‌എയില്‍നിന്ന്‌ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ എഞ്ചിനിയറിങില്‍ ബാച്ച്‌ലേഴ്‌സ് (ഹോണേഴ്‌സ്) ബിരുദധാരിയാണ്‌ താനെന്ന്‌ നിശാല്‍ വ്യക്‌തമാക്കുന്നു. ഇതിനു പുറമേ യുഎസ്‌എയില്‍നിന്നു തന്നെ ടെലികോം മാനേജ്‌മെന്റില്‍ മാസ്‌റ്റേഴ്‌സ് ഡിഗ്രിയും യുകെയിലെ സിഎംഐയിലെ ഫെലോയുമാണ്‌ നിശാല്‍. നിശാലിന്‌ ജോലിയില്ലെന്ന കാവ്യയുടെ ആരോപണത്തിനും മറുപടിയുണ്ട്‌. കുവൈറ്റ്‌ നാഷണല്‍ ബാങ്കിലെ ബിസിനസ്‌ സിസ്‌റ്റം മാനേജരാണ്‌ നിശാലിപ്പോള്‍. കഴിഞ്ഞ മൂന്നര വര്‍ഷമായി ബാങ്കിന്റെ ടെക്‌നോളജി അഡ്വൈസറായാണ്‌ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നത്‌. പ്രതിവര്‍ഷം 30 ലക്ഷം രൂപ ശമ്പളവും ഇതിനു പുറമേ മറ്റ്‌ അലവന്‍സുകളും നിശാലിനുണ്ട്‌. ഇലക്‌ട്രിക്കല്‍ എഞ്ചിനിയറായ നിശാലിന്റെ അച്‌ഛന്‍ ഗള്‍ഫ്‌ കണ്‍സള്‍ട്ടില്‍ 1975 മുതല്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ സീനിയര്‍ കണ്‍സള്‍ട്ടന്റാണ്‌. എംബിബിഎസിനു ശേഷം എംഡിയും എടുത്തശേഷഗ ഖത്തറില്‍ സ്‌പെഷലിസ്‌റ്റ് ഫിസിഷ്യനായി ജോലി നോക്കുന്നു. കുടുംബവും അവിടെത്തന്നെ. വലപ്പോഴും ലഭിക്കുന്ന അവധിക്കു മാത്രമാണ്‌ കുവൈറ്റില്‍ സഹോദരനടുക്കല്‍ എത്തുന്നത്‌. പിന്നീട്‌ നിശാലിനോടു സംസാരിക്കാന്‍ പോലും കാവ്യ തയാറായില്ല. ഏറെ ശ്രമപ്പെട്ടതിനു ശേഷം കാവ്യയുടെ പിതാവ്‌ ഫോണ്‍ അറ്റന്‍ഡ്‌ ചെയ്‌തു. കാവ്യയ്‌ക്ക് നിങ്ങളുടെ കുടുംബവുമായി ഒത്തുപോകാന്‍ കഴിയുന്നില്ല. അവളെ വീണ്ടും വിളിക്കരുത്‌’ എന്ന മറുപടി അല്‍പം അവിശ്വസനീയതതോടെയാണ്‌ നിശാല്‍ കേട്ടത്‌. പിന്നീടു കേള്‍ക്കുന്നത്‌ മാധ്യമങ്ങളിലൂടെ വിവാഹം തകര്‍ന്ന വാര്‍ത്തയാണ്‌ നിശാല്‍ അറിയുന്നത്‌. ഒപ്പം നിശാലിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള മോശം പ്രചരണങ്ങളും. കാവ്യയുടെ പണം സ്വന്തമാക്കാന്‍ നിശാലും കുടുംബവും ശ്രമിച്ചുവെന്നും അഭിനയിക്കാന്‍ നിര്‍ബന്ധിച്ചുമെന്നുമുള്ള പ്രചരണങ്ങള്‍ തന്നെ ഏറെ വിഷമിപ്പിച്ചതായി നിശാല്‍ വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസില്‍ ആരോപിക്കുന്നു. ഉടന്‍തന്നെ നിശാല്‍ നാട്ടിലെത്തിയെങ്കിലും മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ക്കു മുന്നില്‍ ഒന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല. കാവ്യ ജീവിതത്തിലേക്ക്‌ മടങ്ങിയെത്തുമെന്ന്‌ നിശാല്‍ പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചു. സിദ്ധിഖ്‌ എന്ന സുഹൃത്തിനൊപ്പം നിശാല്‍ കാവ്യയുടെ വീട്ടിലെത്തി. നിശാല്‍.. നിങ്ങള്‍ വന്നല്ലോ.. ഇനി നമുക്ക്‌ സൗഹൃദത്തില്‍ പിരിയാം… എന്നാണ്‌ നിശാലിനെ കണ്ടയുടന്‍ കാവ്യയുടെ അച്‌ഛന്‍ പറഞ്ഞത്‌. എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ്‌ ഇത്തരം കഥകള്‍ പ്രചരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിശാല്‍ ചോദിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ഇതെല്ലാം മാധ്യമങ്ങളുടെ സൃഷ്‌ടിയാണെന്നായിരുന്നു കാവ്യയുടെ മറുപടി. കൂടുതല്‍ സംസാരിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ വിവാഹബന്ധം ഒഴിയാന്‍തന്നെയാണ്‌ കാവ്യയുടെയും കുടുംബത്തിന്റെയും തീരുമാനമെന്നു നിശാലിനു വ്യക്‌തമായി. സിനിമയുടെ വര്‍ണപ്രപഞ്ചത്തില്‍നിന്നു പുറത്തുവരാന്‍ കാവ്യയ്‌ക്കു കഴിയുമായിരുന്നില്ല. കുടുംബിനിയുടെ റോള്‍ അവരെ വല്ലാതെ വീര്‍പ്പുമുട്ടിച്ചു. പിന്നീട്‌ ഇതിന്റെ കാരണം മനസിലാക്കാന്‍ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ പ്രൊഫഷണല്‍ കൂടിയായ നിശാല്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചു. കാവ്യയുടെ ഇമെയിലുകളും ചാറ്റിങ്‌ ഹിസ്‌റ്റഡിയും മറ്റും പരിശോധിച്ചത്‌ ഇങ്ങനെയാണ്‌. സീരിയല്‍- സിനിമാ നടിയും കാവ്യയുടെ വിശ്വസ്‌തയുമായ സുജ കാര്‍ത്തികയും കാവ്യയുമായുള്ള ഇ മെയിലിന്റെയും ചാറ്റിങ്ങിന്റെയും വിശദാംശങ്ങള്‍ പരിഗണിച്ച നിശാല്‍ ഞെട്ടിപ്പോയി. പിണങ്ങിപ്പിരിയാനാണ്‌ കാവ്യ കുവൈറ്റിലെത്തിയതെന്നു വ്യക്‌തമാക്കുന്നതായിരുന്നു ഇവ. മലയാള സിനിമയിലെ പുരുഷ സുഹൃത്തിന്‌ അയച്ച ഇ മെയിലുകള്‍ നിശാലിന്റെ പല സംശയങ്ങളും ദൂരീകരിക്കുന്നതായിരുന്നു എന്നും വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസില്‍ പറയുന്നു. പിന്നീട്‌ കാവ്യ കുവൈറ്റില്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ച ടെലിഫോണിന്റെ വിശദാംശങ്ങളും നിശാല്‍ പരിശോധിച്ചു. മലയാള സിനിമയിലെ ജനപ്രിയ നടന്റെ നമ്പരിലേക്കുള്ള വിളികളുടെ ദൈര്‍ഘ്യവും വിളിച്ച സമയവും ഏതൊരു ഭര്‍ത്താവിന്റെയും മനസില്‍ സംശയത്തിന്റെ വിത്തുകള്‍ പാകുന്ന തരത്തിലുള്ളതാണെന്ന്‌ നോട്ടീസില്‍ ആരോപിക്കുന്നു. ഈ നടനുമായുള്ള ബന്ധമാണ്‌ വിവാഹ ബന്ധം വേര്‍പ്പെടുത്താന്‍ കാവ്യയെ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചതെന്നും വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസില്‍ ആരോപിക്കുന്നു. ഭര്‍ത്താവ്‌ ജോലി സംബന്ധമായി വീട്ടില്‍ ഇല്ലാതിരുന്ന സമയവും മറ്റും രാത്രി ഏറെ വൈകിയായിരുന്നു ഫോണിലൂടെ മണിക്കൂറുകള്‍ നീളുന്ന സംസാരമെന്നാണ്‌ നോട്ടീസില്‍ ആരോപിക്കുന്നത്‌. അതും ഭര്‍ത്താവ്‌ ഒരുക്കി നല്‍കിയ സൗകര്യമുപയോഗിച്ച്‌. ഈ നടനുമായി ഫോണ്‍ വിളി തുടരുന്നത്‌ നിശാലിനെ അറിയിച്ചിരുന്നില്ലെന്നും നോട്ടീസില്‍ പറയുന്നു. ഇതിന്റെയെല്ലാം രേഖകള്‍ നിശാലിന്റെ പക്കലുണ്ടെന്നും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കുടുംബം വ്യക്‌തമാക്കുന്നു. ലോകത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളില്‍നിന്ന്‌ നിശാലിന്‌ ഭീഷണി കോളുകള്‍ വന്നതായും നിശാല്‍ നോട്ടീസില്‍ ആരോപിക്കുന്നു. കാവ്യയെ നിശാല്‍ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചു എന്ന പേരില്‍ കഥകള്‍ പ്രചരിച്ചതോടെ കാവ്യയ്‌ക്ക് നാട്ടുകാരുടെ സഹതാപം പിടിച്ചുപറ്റാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞു. നിശാലിന്‌ ലോകത്തിന്റെ മുന്നില്‍ വില്ലന്‍ പരിവേഷവും ലഭിച്ചു. മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ നിശാലിന്റെ ഭാഗം സൗകര്യപൂര്‍വം അവഗണിച്ചു. തുടര്‍ന്ന്‌ സുഹൃത്തുക്കളുടെ ഇടപെടലില്‍ പ്രശ്‌നം രമ്യമായി പരിഹരിക്കാന്‍ ധാരയായി. നിശാല്‍ ഒരാവശ്യം മാത്രമാണ്‌ മുന്നോട്ടുവച്ചത്‌… തന്നെക്കുറിച്ച്‌ പ്രചരിച്ച കഥകള്‍ ‘അസത്യം’ ആണെന്ന്‌ കാവ്യ പരസ്യമായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു മാപ്പു പറയണം. ഇക്കാര്യം കാവ്യ തയാറായിരുന്നില്ല. അവരുടെ ബന്ധുക്കള്‍ മാപ്പു പറയാന്‍ തയാറായെങ്കിലും തന്റെ നഷ്‌ടപ്പെട്ട പ്രതിച്‌ഛായ വീണ്ടെടുക്കാന്‍ കാവ്യയുടെ മനസു തുറക്കലിലൂടെ മാത്രമേ സാധിക്കൂ എന്നാണ്‌ നിശാല്‍ കരുതിയത്‌. ഇതാണ്‌ ഇത്തരമൊരു നോട്ടീസ്‌ അയയ്‌ക്കാന്‍ കാരണമെന്നും കാവ്യയ്‌ക്ക് അയച്ച നോട്ടീസില്‍ വ്യക്‌തമാക്കുന്നു. വിവാഹമോചനത്തിന്‌ നിശാല്‍ തയാറാണ്‌. എന്നാല്‍ കാവ്യയും കുടുംബവും തന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിനുണ്ടാക്കിയ മാനഹാനി നീക്കണം. അതിനായി താന്‍ ഏതറ്റം വരെയും പോകുമെന്ന്‌ നിശാല്‍ നോട്ടീസിലൂടെ വ്യക്‌തമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. ജൂണ്‍ 29-നാണ്‌ കാവ്യയ്‌ക്ക് വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസ്‌ അയയ്‌ച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്‌. നോട്ടീസ്‌ കൈപ്പറ്റി 15 ദിവസത്തിനകം കാവ്യ സത്യാവസ്‌ഥ തുറന്നു പറയണമെന്നാണ്‌ നോട്ടീസില്‍ നിര്‍ദേശിച്ചിരുന്നത്‌. സമയ പരിധി കഴിഞ്ഞതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന്‌ നിയമനടപടികളുമായി നിശാലിന്റെ കുടുംബം മുന്നോട്ടുപോകുന്നു. ഇതിനുള്ള മറുപടി നല്‍കാതിരുന്ന കാവ്യയുടെ കുടുംബം നിശാലിനു മറ്റൊരു വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസ്‌ അയയ്‌ച്ചു. ഇതിന്റെ പകര്‍പ്പും മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ക്കു നല്‍കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. അടുത്ത ദിവസം കാവ്യയുടെ വക്കീല്‍ നോട്ടീസ്‌ ‘മംഗളം ഓണ്‍ലൈന്‍’ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കും. ഇതിനു പുറമേ ഗാര്‍ഹിക പീഡനത്തിനും നിശാലിനും കുടുംബത്തിനുമെതിരേ പരാതി നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു. കേസ്‌ രജിസ്‌റ്റര്‍ ചെയ്‌ത പോലീസ്‌ നിശാലിനോട്‌ ഹാജരാകാന്‍ നിര്‍ദേശിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. Though a very fragile subject for a movie, many renowned directors have created beautiful movies on ‘friendship’ that has enthralled the audiences. Over the years, the films on friendship has done quite well in Hindi and Tamil, which were equally lapped by Kerala audience. Going by these precedences is Vineeth Sreenivasan in his debut flick, who has woven a well made movie with sequences that much of generation can connect with in their life .Yes, that seems to be the catch line of ‘Malarvadi Arts Club’,- films with which people can identify always work. And for that, Vineeth has carefully done his homework and brought in five youngsters as his protagonists who all come from average families, in the movies. His protagonists Prakash, (Nivin Pauly), Kuttu (Aju Varghese), Purushu (Bhagath Manuel), Santhosh (Shravan) and Praveen (Harikrishnan) come from a small village named Manassery in the north of Kerala. After completing their studies, they are now getting ready to face the ups and downs in their life with their unshakable bond of friendship. Pampered and mended by Kumarettan (Nedumudi Venu), who also runs a hotel in Manassery, the five known by the name ‘Malarvadi Boys’ after their club, consider him more like a father than their senior friend. The first half of the movie is dedicated to all the adventurous life of the five some, taking up fights for the local cadre party  and making trips to Mahi for tax-free boozing, while also making some serious digs on the societal life all around. And there comes all those events like harthals and reality shows. As Santhosh’s family suddenly lands up into financial ruins following a court case, the friends convince him to try a chance in a realty show. The camaraderie between the friends suddenly goes out, as Santhosh is selected as the winner of a popular show and his parents intervene, playing fowl in their friendship The movie has been explicitly inspired from many of the recent Bollywood flicks like ‘Rock On’ and ‘Dil Chahta Hai’. The highlight of the movie is that, each of the five has their own defined characters, maintained well all through the film. All the actors have put in very good performances, though Nivin Pauly, Bhagath Manuel and Aju Varghese were exceptional in many of the sequences and displays rare maturity for a first-timer. Like his father’s script lines, Vineeth Srenivasan also comes up with delightful little nuggets of humour, sprinkled all through, with realistic and refreshingly witty dialogues. The technical side is also in sync with the quality of the narratives with P Sukumar creating another good work behind camera. Renjan Abraham could have sync the shots in the music interludes, much better than what he had done now. The art director and costumers also have worked well to sustain the moods of the young generation flick. Though the BG scores of the movie worked well, some of the songs by Shaan Rehman could have been better. The title song and the marriage song seem to be pick from the all five, in the movie. ‘Malarvadi Arts Club’ also works because you can relate to the characters, you can relate to the moods, their egos, the highs and the lows. The movie is dedicated to all those thick friends, who have different outlook of life, but respect each other for what they are. Yes, ‘Malarvadi’ remains so far as one of the strongly recommended films of the year, for its sincerity and for the portrayal of sensitive relationships. In his 25th year in films Sibi Malayil seems to have attempted a different genre in ‘Apoorva Raagam’. The director in a distinctive story has accomplished to make a ‘watchable’ movie, though not in the league of his bests. The director who had rarely attempted movies with fresh faces, finds it difficult to make them play to his tunes and that seem to be the biggest flaw in the movie which is otherwise a passable fare with some brilliant twists. The movie has Roopesh (Nishan) and Tommy (Asif Ali) as college mates and best friends who are always found together in the campus. When Roopesh develops an interest towards Nancy (Nithya), Tommy finds ways to unite them through very innovative ways. And when they realise that Nancy’s millionaire dad wouldn’t allow them to live together, Tommy with the help of their friends gets them married before a registrar. We are in no position to narrate any further as it will be a spoilsport for all those who are getting ready to meet these youngsters at theatres. The narrative of the film takes a different course from the ordinary and is structured as a campus love story in the former half and a thriller in the later. It may not be the most interesting film produced in the recent times, but it does hold your attention intermittently. Together with the fresh writers, Sibi spins a tale that’s good in parts. The graph of the film slides downwards in the post-interval portions, where the narrative suddenly gets slow, the turn of events aren’t as captivating with a share of loose ends. The revelations ala Abbas-Mustan films ,that comes up after an hour appear as a big blow in your face and you are sure to find faces in the theatres unable to digest the shockers in the  proceedings . The technical crew of the movie is in par with the narratives with Ajayan Vincent’s cinematography creating some eye pleasing visuals. Though the songs of the movie are by Vidyasagar, none of them has the soul to find themselves in the hit charts, which is a big letdown for a movie with youngsters. Of the leads of the film Nithya Menon once again proves herself to be able to handle heavier roles with ease. While her male partners are not so convicting in their roles, Asif Ali is Ok in parts and seems to have taken the role a bit more casual. Nishan continues with his ‘Rithu’ makeover, but appears less impressive with wooden faces towards the climax that demanded much more. Vinay as Narayan is another promising find who mesmerises you with his makeovers. He portrays the gamut of emotions with aplomb and delivers a flawless performance, becoming another highlight of the movie. Some of the actor’s including the one who played the heroine’s dad fails to rise up to the demands of the roles. ‘Apoorva Raagam’ is definitely an appreciable attempt for its different content. Though a prospect for a taut edge of the seat thriller, which it isn’t due to its not-too-happening post-interval portions. But Mollywood audience who always keeps a double standards in analysing movies, may not be the easiest customers to satisfy by this movie, especially as it is coming from Sibi Malayil. Hopes were flying pretty high as Mohanlal was getting ready to team up with his favourite Sreenivsan. The inimitable duo had been undoubtedly the pair who had made us think and laugh to the most, with their previous Mollywood satire classics. And as they come together once again, the first question was whether they still show the lustre they have in their magical golden days. Though the answer may be not at all positive, their latest endeavor, ‘Oru Naal Varum’ still manages to end up as a watchable fare which may prove a success, in the long run. The movie is based on the life of a corrupt, assistant town planning officer, Gopikrishnan (played by Sreenivasan). A ruthless deal maker who is always in the lookout for bribes, he makes his demands through his driver (Suraj Venjaramoodu). At the same time he makes his family consisting of his naive wife (Devayani) and a daughter aiming for MBBS (Naasreen) believe that this is just ‘give and take’ deal between friends, rather than bribes. Mohanlal comes up as Kulappulli Sukumaran alias Jayakrishnan, desperately in need of a sanction to build a home on his own land. He is a single parent of his school going daughter, as his ambitious wife is separated from him. Gopikrishnan makes him run all rounds in the memory of their previous road rage, which makes up the much of entertainments in the former half. The subplots include that of Nedumudi Venu, an ex-army man who is harassed by Gopikrishnan for an illegal extension in his home as the army man resists to pay bribes. The movie works well in the former half but the twist that came out of the blue towards the intermission, takes the life out of the later sequences. The second half is quite serious and brings out a yawn at times. Sreenivasan as usual assimilates the day to day struggles of commoner into the narratives, but lacks the gallows humour that has been his trademark. He had reworked many of the winning lines like those on skin colour and fair looking wife and daughter, but his writing remains a pale shadow of his glory days. Coming to the performances, Mohanlal is brilliant donning the lighter sequences in the first half with an impeccable timing of presentations .But Sreenivasan looks artificial, overdone and jaded. Sameera Reddy looks wooden and lacks any chemistry with Lal while Devayani walks off with a believable role. Nasreen as Dhanya, Suraj as driver and Nedumudi Venu as an ex-service man are also impressive. Despite its optimistic name, ‘Oru Naal Varum’ is a movie that struggled really hard to get to theatres. But even after coming from such fine professionals, the movie fails to give any big impressions. The only good thing is that when compared to the recent outings from Lal, ‘Oru Naal Varum’ is a much better affair that may interest you in parts.
