As the big films that came out in January couldn’t hold on, ‘Second show’ the debut offering from a gang of youngsters including its director Sreenath Rajendran is at the top spot of winners this week. The movie which is also the launch vehicle of Mammooty’s son Dulqur Salman has already made a distributors share of a crore and is still continuing in all major centres with good word of mouth. The movie is expected to make at least a two cores from the theatrical collections and with the Satellite rights due, the movie made under a budget of one crore will become the opening hit of the year.
Meanwhile the biggest budgeted Malayalam film, ‘Casanovva’ released last week may end up as one of the big loosers of the year. The movie in its third week has been reduced to 33 centres, with half of it playing only reduced shows. With a large share of its costs yet to be recovered, the movie may sometimes become the biggest debacle in Malayalam. Laljose- Dileep’s combo ‘Spanish masala’ is also witnessing a similar fate , though the loyal family fans of the star hasn’t yet bid adieu to the movie, which continues at 24 centres in its fourth week.Sreenivasan`s Sarojkumar and V K prakash’s Beautiful, still continues in a few centres in Kerala with average collections.
